We got to see our Sweet Sherrie yesterday. We sat with her, held her hands, played her messages, read to her and talked. In many ways it was comforting to be able to see her and know that she is here in Chicago and have a reminder that she is alive and fighting. In other ways it was extremely difficult to see her in that bed.
She arrived safely to Northwestern and is all set up in her room in the ICU. They did a few tests yesterday including an MRI. There is still some concern about the blood vessels in her brain. The MRI results were that they did not need to do another angiogram but they are monitoring her closely.
As we approach the 14 day mark tomorrow, we are extremely hopeful and anxious to haver her wake up. Brandon posted this before, but we've been told that a great scenario is for a coma patient to wake up by day 14. Progress is measured at days 14, 30, 60 and 90 and if she has made progress at day 14, she will most likely have continued to make progress at days 30, 60 and 90.
Sherrie is known, lovingly, for being a little late to things but always there. Most often because she is doing 10 different things for other people. Who is to say that she isn't busy right now, and may miss the 14 day mark. True to her style, she will probably show up on her own terms and have a good reason for doing it. We just hope it's close to that 14 days!
We will be fasting on Thursday for peace and for her to wake up. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Yay, so happy she's back in Chicago. What a journey! Love, The Allred's
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful that she arrived safely! I pray she will know she's home and feel comforted. I pray she will be blessed with a sense of urgency to take the next step (it's not something that comes naturally to us Adams women, so we have to pray for it). However, as Joe said to me, "Mom is like Mary Poppins; she's never late, she arrives exactly when she intends to". Sherrie is very, very intuitive, so I have faith she'll wake up when the time is right for her best recovery. I pray for patience on our part. I Love you Sher! Love you all, Shar.
ReplyDeleteI've been praying and adding my faith with yours, that Sherrie will heal and recover. Like you, I'm comforted by lots of loving memories of your mom, and hopeful that more great moments are on the way for her and for your whole family. I love you, Labrums! Juli Kirry
ReplyDeleteYou are in my thoughts and prayers that she will wake up and make significant progress today on her 14th day of recovery. I'm so glad she made it home and hopefully that will help her heal and ease your family's burdens just a little. My parents came to visit this past weekend and we talked of your family. My dad said Sherrie was an incredible teacher and the image of sacrifice and love. He had many kind things to say and stories to tell. Know that that Spackmans love your family and are thinking of you!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be fasting for Sherrie tomorrow too. She has been in our family and personal prayers ever since we heard about the accident. Although I've only met her a few times, she's the kind of person you don't forget. She's what my mom would call "a real lady." Thank you so much for sharing you wonderful faith on this blog!

ReplyDeleteThough we will be sad that we won't be able to see Sherrie for some more time it is so wonderful to know that she is home. Yesterday I was just going over my saved voicemails on our home phone and amazingly heard Sherrie's voice as she left me with a voicemail around three weeks ago inviting me to the RS sisters get together celebrating hers and couple other sisters birthdays at Eyre's home which was so much fun that I was able to spend time with her that day. Not sure why I saved the voicemail on that day but I kept listening to the voicemail on and on several times yesterday just to hear her voice and the kind and loving words that she spoke through the voicemail. No doubt that she is such a loving person and the overwhelming activity on this blog only reiterates the fact that the impact she has on all of us that made us feel so special for her. She has always made me feel like me and my family is so special to her why we share such an emotional bond with Sherrie. She is my role model !!! Wake up Sherrie !!! We are all waiting to see your priceless smile again !!! We love you dearly and you are in our prayers all the time!!! We keep pleading with our heavenly father that it is time for more miracles !!!

WELCOME HOME - there is no place like home!!! We pray Sherrie will feel that and wake up. Thank you so much for your updates. It makes us feel much closer being so far away. Our love and prayers are with all of you. Like all, we have been thinking a lot about Sherrie - and one thing that keeps coming to mind is Sherrie is one of those women who does almost everything, and does them beautifully. Her home is beautifully decorated, with creative touches of the family all over, she entertains beautifully, a marvelous cook, her teaching always touches one, with many creative touches to them, and she loves and cares for others, especially her family in an unparalleled way. And in doing this, never makes anyone feel uncomfortable or incompetent because she is so capable, but just the opposite, a better person just being in her presence. What a blessing she is in all our lives. And she and Ron set such a beautiful example of what a celestial marriage is. All notice the special relationship between them. God bless all of you. Love, Gaye Breillatt
