We think it's important  that everyone knows that the comments left on this blog are read frequently by all members of our family. They have especially been a source of comfort for Ron and the kids in the Dominican. They haven't been able to receive the phone calls and emails that we have here in the states. Thank you all for your support.

This is the update we got from Britney an hour ago.

Mom is still in a very critical state and still in a coma but last night during the second craniotomy they were able to clear her brain of ALL hematomas and get her to a more stable state! They also saw her move her legs an arms, this could be a sign of posturing (which means she has suffered a lot of neurological damage and only moves as a reaction to her brain injuries) BUT the other possibility is that she moved from pain and therefore is not paralyzed. We will know more in the next 24 hours but we are hopeful and believe that it is the latter of the two. Either way we have taken a baby step in a good direction and we are holding tight to that! It will be a long road and my family and I will need all the support we can get so thank you...continue to be prayerful and have faith. We know the Lord is listening and we have already seen His mighty hand in so many of these small events that have kept her alive! Your prayers and your faith are working and so many miles away we feel them and are strengthened by them! We love you all!!

  1. We are happy to hear of all the tender mercies of the Lord and the many small miracles that your family has already experienced. The Labrums are an example to all of us of faith and rallying around the foundation of their family, Sherrie.

We expect to hear many more miracles as this united effort of faith and prayer only gets bigger.

    Sending our love.

    1. Dear Ron and the entire Labrum Family,

Know that we all look to the Labrum family as an inspiration of faith, family, strength, caring, sharing, and love. Words cannot express adequately our deep concern and support for Sherri and the Labrum family. Know that Sherri and your whole family is in our constant, continuous, and heartfelt prayers. We believe the Lord is carying you on his shoulders right now. We are also praying that the Lord works through the doctors caring for Sherri to provide her the best possible outcome. Know that the Lacke family has an open offer to assist you in any way we can.

God bless Sherri and all of you.

  5. We send our love and prayers. We are praying healing for Sherrie, for peace and reassurance to be with all of the family, for the doctors and nurses to be inspired and guided, and fasting for miracles. (Dallin said he was going to fast for Zach.) Mine and my children's favorite primary song is "A Child Prayer", we sung that as a Primary for the program one year and Zach always added a great "ding" in the middle of one of the versus- our kids still add it in to this day. This song instantly ran through my mind as we heard the news this morning. I know He hears our prayers and I know His love is now surrounding you.

We add our faith to yours and the many others who's prayers are being spoken at this time.

    With love,

Kate and Berkley Nelson (Courtney, Emily, Dallin and Sterling too!)

  13. Ron & Sherrie,

I just heard about the accident today through facebook. It's been a long time since I have seen either of you, time goes by quickly. I want you to know how much gratitude I feel for the both of you. You've both been great examples of love and service for others, particularly me. I'm grateful for what I have learned from your examples.

This is a pretty big trial, so Heavenly Father must trust you a lot. Just as you've shared the tender mercies you've seen, It's not easy, it's not fair, but it will be made right through our Savior. You have a wonderful family and lots of people that love and respect you for all you have done. Keep your chins up. You can do it.

  14. I have been thinking of all the great "Sherri Stories" over the past couple of days... running into numerous peoples' cars, accidentally leaving the truck running with the garage doors closed, losing her cell phone/keys/sunglasses/wallet, booking flights going in the wrong direction, raking the snow of the car--thus leaving tiny scratches all over, forgetting baby Tara in the middle of the mall, her giving the passengers in her car 100% of her attention as she is driving, forgetting passports, and so on. All these stories just make me smile and it just proves that the most wonderful, loving, kind person in the world has her moments, too. For some reason they just make her even more endearing. Maybe people would love to post their own funny "Sherrie Story."

I always say that Sherrie Labrum is the best woman I know. Her ability to take everyone under her wing is amazing. There are at least 500 woman out there who consider Sherrie their best friend...and I am honored to be one of those 500 women.

I look forward to many more "Sherrie Stories" in the years to come..and I can only imagine there will be some real doosies!

So glad Brik is there with you. Kisses all around to all 8 of you!

    Love you all,
    Susan

  20. Well, I have not been a witness to many of Sherrie's "human moments", but I am convinced that she stages them to make the rest of us feel better about ourselves anyway because that is just how considerate she is of other people! I have been able to watch in amazement as she unassumingly and intuitively gravitates towards those in her presence that may be in need of one of her warm hugs or her kind words. Sherrie is truly the epitome of grace and beauty inside and out...and it is rare to find both qualities so perfectly exhibited together!

I have also always been amazed(and a little envious) of her seemingly effortless organization and creativity. Just before leaving for her trip, Sherrie volunteered to make the invitations for something for our sons'. (She was also chairing a committee for the high school graduation for Zach, anxiously anticipating the birth of a new grandchild and probably doing at least a hundred other things that I am not aware of.) Yet, she still managed to make the adorable invitations while still lamenting the fact that they weren't completed to her standards...although they were already far superior to anything that I could have created!

Sherrie is just one of those people that makes everything look so effortless and easy and inspires others to be better just by being in her infectiously joyous presence! We love Sherrie and your family and will continue to pray for Sherrie, her doctors and all of you!

I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers and I know that He loves His precious daughter Sherrie! We will all continue to thrill as we hear of her progress!

    Love,

    Bev

  21. Dear Labrum Family,

Your family has meant so much to each one of us for many years. It is unfortunate that we only express our love and appreciation at times such as this. Sherrie is truly one of the most loving, caring people on this earth, and our dear, dear friend. We are praying and fasting together with faith that your family and Dear Sherrie will be blessed with miracles and comfort. We love you!

  22. Susan, this is a great idea.

I as well have been thinking specifically about Sherrie and thinking what I love so much about her. I have smiled many times over the last few days as I have reflected on her. Some of the things I think about is, the fact that she hugs everyone:) She has a way that she walks up to you, grabs you and gives the best hugs...I can see that so clearly in my mind.

I will second the car accidents, or dents, I am not sure I know anyone that has hit as many things with multiple cars. I vividly can hear her telling me the story of when Ron bought the truck and he leaves it parked in the driveway....she clearly told him that at some point she would hit it:) I am smiling as I write....

Working out with her, the fact that she tries to tell me how much she dreads me coming to visit, yet I know deep down she loves that I show up twice a week to beat her up a little. She is incredibly strong, and committed. It has been a privilege to see her continue to take care of her body physically.

Sherrie is so unconditional with her love, she has a warmth and tenderness towards people that is admirable. I look forward to more "Sherrie" stories in the future.

Labrum Family, we will continue to pray for all of you. May you experience God's peace in abundant measure. Love you all....Michelle

  23. Labrum Fam -

My thoughts of all of you and particularly your Mom have been ever-present these past few days. What a treasure Sherrie is! She is, quite simply, timeless-- No matter how long it's been since you've seen her or even talked to her, she looks the same, she still has that unique, insatiable laugh, and gives the best and most genuine hugs. It's like you're the only person in the world to her at that moment. My life has truly been made better by knowing your family and by the example of Sherrie as a wife, mother, and friend. I mean, she still tickles her husband's hand when she sits by him at church (30+ years later) and makes maple syrup from scratch. Who does that these days? Sherrie. And while she may have driven away from the gas pump with the pump still attached a time or two, it's her lovable nature that endears and endures. She loves without judgement and without bounds. Her friendship and desire to serve and assist others is extraordinary and is a model of Christ-like love and service.

I pray that each of you will be buoyed up by the outpouring of support from the many, many people who love you and whose lives Sherrie has touched with such kindness and love. With so many amazing and faithful people fasting and praying for miracles, it seems hard to believe that we won't continue to see the tender mercies of the Lord manifest throughout the difficult time. I know the Lord loves us and that these small moments of trials and tribulations matter infinitely.

Wanted to share this Elder Bednar quote with you as well--

"The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance (see 1 Ne. 1:20)."

May all of you be made mighty even unto the power of deliverance from the heartaches and difficulties at this time. My love, thoughts, and prayers to each of you and hope for a speedy and thorough recovery.

    All my love,
    Melanie Kirry Gardner

Brit- if your family here needs anything, I'm around and available! love to you!!

  24. “Faith in God includes Faith in God's timing.” Neal Maxwell

Timing is a funny thing...I'm sure the minutes seem like days right now as each moment takes your family on a roller coaster of emotions. We have all "stopped" in our tracks to reflect on how Sherrie and the Labrums have touched our lives. I am at peace knowing your family is moving mountains for her right now. We all join with you...prayers and fasting and turning this over to our Father in Heaven.

Sherrie has always been the "real deal"-- one of those kind of gals that you want your sons to grow up and marry. She can make anyone feel welcome and comfortable and loved. Our family took a picture today of a very large iron sign that was part of a driveway gate to a home. It said, "Expect Miracles" and we do!
